Prerequisites / Who it's for
Targeted at ages 9-11 (Grades 4-6). No prior robotics or coding is required, though SPIKE Essential experience is helpful. Students must be comfortable with multi-step LEGO builds, simple diagrams, Chromebook usage, and working collaboratively in pairs.

Program Overview

Project-based learning with hands-on builds in every lesson. Students experience true integration of sensors, motors, lights, sound, and code. Cultivates an early data mindset involving counting, charts, and tuning, backed by visible progress and safe operations.

How the curriculum progresses
  • Level 1 (Foundations with SPIKE Prime): Hub exploration, sensor introductions, and basic programming to control lights, sounds, and motors.  
  • Level 2 (Flow Control & Precision Sensing): Advanced program flow using loops, messaging, and complex sensors like Gyro and Colour sensors.  
  • Level 3 (Real Tasks & Extensions): Merging knowledge to complete practical tasks and utilizing block extensions for greater control.  
  • Level 4 (Integrated Projects & Troubleshooting): Larger, complex challenges requiring systematic debugging and the full engineering cycle.  
  • Level 5 (SPIKE Python): Transition to text-based coding using variables, calculations, lists, and advanced sensor events to build real-world applications like a password-protected vault.
